Glee star Jane Lynch’s former partner asks for alimony
There is no discounting the fact that Glee actress Jane Lynch is not only popular here in Orange County, but in the rest of the world as well. Known for her portrayal of feisty Sue Sylvester in the hit television series, Lynch has made waves both in her performance on screen and with her advocacy for social issues off screen.
The actress made headlines when she married her female partner, Dr. Lara Embry, in May 2012 in Massachusetts. Days later, they filed for domestic partnership in California. A few months ago, the couple decided to part ways. Now, Lynch is making headlines once again as her now-estranged wife, Embry, is seeking spousal support in a Los Angeles court.
Despite the divorce and the petition for spousal support, the actress stated that there was no drama involved in the breakup. She stated that the divorce was not a horrible thing. She also added that they were just two people who decided that it was better that they part ways than stay together.
Orange County divorcing couples-same-sex and heterosexual-should emulate the actress’s unfaltering stance, even at a difficult time in her life. A divorce is very challenging, particularly when it comes to the family law aspects such as with child custody, child support and alimony.
There is no question about how important alimony is for a former spouse who is starting a new life. It is the specific amount and payment duration that often become a point of dispute. An Orange County divorcing spouse may end up paying an unreasonable amount of support indefinitely. For this reason, a divorcing spouse may wish to consult a family law attorney for alimony concerns as well as other family legal issues.
