Parents starting to favor new divorce trend known as birdnesting
Divorce is not easy on children, so when possible, parents often do what they can to make the process more bearable. Telling a child as little as possible is one way people try to help them through the divorce, but there are also a number of other ways to deal with the transition.
One issue that children must face after a divorce is being constantly shuttled back and forth between their parents’ homes. While such an arrangement allows for them to spend time and bond with both parents, it can make it can be tiring and make it difficult to develop consistent routines.
One solution to this issue is called “birdnesting,” which is when the parents rotate out of the home instead of the children, is a new divorce trend that some parents seem to be enjoying. The goal here is to help children with the transition into their parents being divorced and give them a stable home during the process.
Although birdnesting is seen as a great solution that offers children a bit more stability than the typical divorce arrangement, some divorced parents are not too fond of the arrangement. This is partly because some parents don’t feel as though they have a home to call their own.
Birdnesting is an option for all parents, but it might not work for your particular situation. For those who find that it is not a fit for them, there are plenty of other options. Should it be decided that spouses will live in a separate household, it may be wise to speak to an attorney who may be able to offer advice on how to make the process go as smoothly as possible.
