CO-PARENTING SHOULD BE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE
Co-parenting is a rewarding method for child custody because your child has the stability between both homes that gives them what they need to thrive. This doesn’t mean that it is always going to be easy for the children. Instead, you and your ex will likely have to work hard to make the situation the best it can be.
As you are going through different situations that come with this parenting style, there might be times when you start to get discouraged. Getting that turned around and getting back to a positive attitude is imperative because everything is likely going to seem worse than it is when you are discouraged.
One of the most important things that you can do when things get tough is to take the time to remember why you are doing this. You are trying to make a nice life for your children. Co-parenting offers consistency and a chance for the child to have a stable home life.
You should make sure that you think of all the good things that this arrangement has done. This can be everything from how it shows your children that teamwork is important in all cases to them being able to have both parents there for special events. Make a list of these positive things so that you can refer to them when you need a reminder about why you have so much to be thankful for.
Sometimes, the down times are due to lack of self care. You should eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep at night and exercise regularly. When you aren’t feeling your best, you might take it out on situations around you instead of looking at what you can do to feel better.
