California couples should consider prenuptial agreements

Couples in California about to launch their new lives together have many things to plan and arrange. For an increasing number of those contemplating wedded bliss, drafting a prenuptial agreement is high up on that list.

Child support agreement announced for Cruise, Holmes

People have been very interested in the details of the divorce settlement between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. The former couple created a media frenzy when Holmes filed for divorce earlier this year. After a very quick resolution, people were very curious as to the details of their settlement.

'Toddlers and Tiaras' appearance spurs child custody dispute

The parents of a five-year-old girl were divorced years ago. As part of their divorce settlement agreement, the girl's mother was granted primary child custody. Since then, however, the appropriateness of the mother's parenting has come into question -- not just by the girl's father, but also by many others as a result of the TV reality show "Toddlers and Tiaras."

Reality show prompts a request to change child custody

Turn on the TV and you are likely to find a reality show about celebrities or average parents. In many cases, the average parent becomes a celebrity from the exposure. This spotlight can be too much for some families to deal with. It can also highlight a person's negative behavior or parenting skills. If a child is suffering because of the choices of a parent, on camera or off, then the child custody arrangement may be reevaluated.

Gold medal parents

Now that the Olympics have come to a close, people are reflecting on all the gold medal moments and times of despair that make the event so fascinating. At the end of the day, though, it is important to remember that many of these athletes and their families have had to deal with other obstacles that had nothing to do with times, scores or deductions. Many have had the same struggles and family law concerns that other people in California and elsewhere have had to deal with.

Getting remarried? Consider a prenuptial agreement

If you are about to get married for the second or third time, you are certainly not alone. Recent reports suggest that nearly 43 percent of marriages these days involve a bride or groom who have been married before. And, if you are among these couples, you may have learned a few lessons from a first marriage. One of the issues that many remarried spouses in California should consider before saying "I do" again is having a prenuptial agreement in place.

Stevie Wonder divorcing wife of 11 years

Music fans across California were likely surprised to hear that legendary entertainer Stevie Wonder recently filed for divorce. However, the couple has reportedly been separated since 2009, and has been living separate lives. Wonder recently made the separation permanent and legal, though, when he cited irreconcilable differences in his divorce filing.

Jon and Kate Minus Child Support

Paying child support is not exactly something that parents love to do. However, many understand it is necessary for the wellbeing of their children. People all across California are struggling to make these payments, though. It can become difficult to stay up-to-date with child support, especially if a person is struggling with finding or keeping a job, but it is still important that these payments are made.
