Getting over a divorce doesn’t happen over night

Working through a divorce may be one of the most challenging things a person can do. Property and assets are divided, custody of children may be split up and support payments are determined. The emotional toll that a divorce can take on a person can be significant as well. It is always important to remember that ending a marriage is difficult for many people. Sometimes, it can be easy to forget that recovering from a divorce in California can take some time.

In the world of celebrities, divorces are only news until someone else does something interesting. Many times, the media reports on the divorce, the settlement and then it can seem as if that entire chapter is closed. This may make the rest of us feel that getting over a divorce should be easier than it likely is.

Actress Scarlett Johansson is quick to oppose this notion, though. Her high-profile marriage to actor Ryan Reynolds ended in 2010 after two years. Reports of her dating other people were made even before the divorce was finalized, but the actress says that she is still not over the relationship.

She admits that divorce was difficult to navigate and it made her feel lonely. Ending a marriage, even if there has been irreparable damage done to the relationship, can be emotional and complicated. The actress says she felt that she had lost her friend in the divorce.

However, she is quick to remind people that it does get better and easier. Moving on, while difficult, can be exciting and fulfilling. It is important to focus on the future and the possibilities that are ahead. And while it may feel as though a person is supposed to move on quickly from divorces, every person – and every relationship – is different.
